I remember Mark. I worked with him and Kim Leathers on the Maggie Lena Walker project headed by Dr. Gertrude Marlowe at Howard University. That little work group was interesting. It was people from different fields brought together to share their understandings and perspectives, and get a job done. Because we were all so different (and Dr. Marlowe didn't suffer fools gladly) it could have been a catastrophe. Instead, however, it was one of the most interesting group projects I have ever enjoyed. We enjoyed it, I think, in large part because of Mark. He was smart, he was professional, he was easy and calm. He had a little steady hum about him that was partly confidence and partly what seemed to be a simple joy at being alive. He was a wonderful man; I join you both in mourning his loss and celebrating his life. Rev. Gail E. Bowman University Chaplain Dillard University
